Student athletics
Panther Athletics is an opportunity for students to enrich their experience at Provost Public School.
Provost Public School offers students with a variety of environments to be physically active:
Physical Education Classes: Provost Public School strives for daily instruction for all students in grades 1-9. This is their primary opportunity to gain necessary traits for personal wellness as well as exposure to concepts needed for participating in extracurricular athletics. Sr. High Students have the opportunity to continue to build their abilities and experiences around fitness, health, games and athletics. As Sr. High PE 20 & 30 classes are not required courses, those registered must demonstrate positive attitudes towards fitness, sports and team environments. Previous experiences in PE class may be a prerequisite with student enrolment.
Noon Hour Intramurals: The Panther intramural program is an opportunity for students to stay physically active and work together with peers to celebrate sport and have fun. The emphasis is not on winning necessarily but on fair play, playing hard and having fun doing it. Students registering in intramurals do so understanding that they are committing to an extracurricular event and should operate with “Panther Pride” in mind.
Elementary Sports Club: Elementary students interested in fitness, games and athletics are welcome to participate in after school activities with positive mentorship and leadership.
Panthers Running Club: For anyone and everyone. This is a casual drop in environment where students and staff can rub elbows and encourage each other to set goals, improve fitness and build pride in personal achievement.
Archery: Grade 6 – 12 students throughout the community of Provost are invited to participate in our NEW archery program. Students will have the opportunity to gain skills following the NASP Archery Program. Students can have a recreation or competitive experience as there are opportunities to compete at a variety of levels.
Jr. High Panthers Varsity Teams: Jr. Panthers are focused to master technical skills and strategies to apply in specific sports. These athletes are excited and enthusiastic with a vision to have fun, work hard and learn from their coaches.
Sr. High Panthers Varsity Teams: Panthers Pride themselves on being ambassadors of Provost Public School. These athletes are disciplined and focused on achieving personal and team excellence. As Panther Reps, the schedules may be very busy and require personal management of school and other extracurricular activities. These athletes are dedicated to being the best they can be and showing what Panther Pride is to other communities.
